On May 31, 2007, CFP Board announced the adoption of an updated Standards of Professional Conduct, which sets forth the ethical standards for CFP® professionals. The updated Standards, which have an effective date of July 1, 2008 and an enforcement date of January 1, 2009, were designed to maintain CFP Board's high ethical standards, strengthen them in several important ways, and present the standards in a manner that will be easily understood by CFP® professionals and the public they serve. CFP BOARD CENSURES IMPROPER CFP® CERTIFICANT CONDUCT

WASHINGTON DC, June 12, 2008 – – Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. (CFP Board) announces that it has permanently revoked the right of Roger C. Faubel, of Youngstown, Ohio, to use the CFP® certification marks, effective immediately. Full Article >

CFP BOARD PROVIDES SIX-MONTH GRACE PERIOD FOR ENFORCEMENT OF NEW STANDARDS

WASHINGTON DC, June 11, 2008 – The Board of Directors of CFP Board has established a January 1, 2009 enforcement date for its revised Standards of Professional Conduct. The Board’s decision provides CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificants a six month grace period to fully implement the revised Standards in their practices. The change does not affect the introduction of the revised Standards, which will go into effect July 1, 2008 as planned. Full Article >

OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN MORE ABOUT CFP BOARD AND REVISED ETHICAL STANDARDS

CFP Board is pleased to offer two opportunities for CFP® certificants and others who want to learn more about CFP Board and the revised Standards of Professional Conduct, which takes effect July 1, 2008. On Thursday, June 12, 2008, Financial Planning Association's Virtual Learning Center presented a continuing education program on CFP Board's revised ethical standards. On Wednesday, July 9, 2008, a CFP Board Business Update webinar will allow certificants to learn more about CFP Board's current activities and the revised ethical standards and also give certificants an opportunity to ask questions and provide their input.
